A Sweet Intro

This blog is dedicated to our darling boy, born prematurely at 29 weeks and miraculously survived all odds during his 57 days in the ICU. We named him Reagan, which means our "Little King", strong and brave enough to fight any battles. He is also our little king whom we worship with a lifetime of our love and kisses. Baby Reagan continues to amaze us with his awesome strength, big personality, joyful laughter and lovely smiles. This is where we share both our learning journeys and all the fun bonding time together.

5D4N Taipei with our Rboy

We started off with a rough morning that day. On the way to the airport, hubs forgot to bring along his visa and we have to turn back home to retrieve it. Then we arrived at the wrong terminal and so we rushed to take a train to the right one. Lastly, Singapore Airline broke the stroller that we checked in and we have to waste some time to fill up some forms to arrange their staff to get it fixed.

On a lighter note, we reached our hotel late but was offered a free upgrade to their business suite room! A little consolation for us....at least one thing good that had happened that day haha.

It was late evening by the time we settled down but since our hotel was right inside Ximending, we decided to just explore the nearby shops and "take away" some of their street snacks back.

Reagan simply just enjoys watching the street performance and loitering aimlessly around the buzzling Ximenting....the night is still young!

The next morning, we aimed to find our way to JiuFen and Shifen by taking the public train and bus. We didn't really do our research before we came, but fortunately communication with the locals was not a problem and they were all pretty helpful.

A few pictures taken along the way to the train station

Reagan was absolutely thrilled and throughout the entire train journey, he pointed and repeated the questions "What's this and what's that" countless times and simply cant take his eyes off the scene outside the window! When we alighted from the train, our little "sua gu" made us promised to take him back on the train ride again haha.

It was quite cold and windy in JiuFen so we made him put on a thicker jacket that made him looked like a little puffy penguin haha! It was the first time we see him in a winter jacket and he looks so damn cute! Heart him to bits!

We took our time to explore the lanes of JiuFen old street , the speciality food stalls and the interesting chinese retro shophouses ..

Then we took a break at an ancient chinese teahouse that overlook the fantastic view of the JiuFen village and ocean.

The beautiful scenery that even mesmerized my boy...

The windmill was the only thing we bought for him at JiuFen and it was enough to entertain him throughout the trip haha!

Flying the sky lanterns is in one of my want-to-do list in Taipei because I felt it'll be pretty meaningful and memorable to fly one during our first family trip get-away. And I'm very sure Reagan will be equally excited to fly his own sky lantern too.

The boys began working on their "masterpiece." We gave Reagan his own brush and allowed him to doodle on one of the lanterns too.

We cuddled and watched as our lantern gradually disappeared into the white clouds...

Reagan boy was in an awesome mood because the weather was great, he was thrilled by the sky lanterns and he finally got to witness the real RAILWAY TRACKS! It was very amusing to see him skip and jump around the railway tracks while singing the theme song for Thomas the Train haha!

Crossing the bridge of SHIFEN
Joy and excitement are what I can see on his face!

Reagan boy has pretty good photo-taking skill now, totally well-trained by his mummy haha! We visited the Modern Toilet theme restaurant and he followed all the poses we want him to do! A very good entertainer indeed!

The rest of the days were spent on shopping, eating or just hanging out at the night markets or random cafes. Despite getting his feeding time and bedtime screwed up and going through 5 days of no proper meals (he had loads of cakes and chocolate biscuits though ), no rules and no routine, it was still definitely an unforgettable fun trip we all had together.

Quick Summary of Oct

October is coming to an end and here's a quick update of this month.

-Reagan is still in love with trains and is the first and only toys he ever demands from us. His Dada and his grandma are definitely supporting his obsession by getting him more and more train sets to add to his collection. I've already gave them the final warning not to buy him any more because it's taking up too much space!
- I bought some bento-making tools online and tried to create some cute-looking meals. Hope to encourage him to show more interest in his food.

- A couple of weeks ago, both the boys were sick from fever, flu and cough. Reagan passed the virus to baby Kyrian and his phlegm became quite serious till we had to make a trip down to KK hospital and use the nebulizer on him. Poor baby boy was literally screaming his lungs out. He lost quite a bit of weight too because he was coughing badly till he vomited almost every feeding out. I was praying everyday for him to recover asap.

During the last week of the month, we took Reagan on an overseas trip to Bangkok. Well, I shall leave that to my next blog entry....

Exploring Singapore like a tourist..

This has been an overdue post and with my time occupied by a baby and a toddler, blogging and napping have became a luxury, and most of the time I chose the latter haha..

So here goes...

Reagan has always been very fascinated by the Singapore Flyer. Every time when we were on the highway, he never fail to spot the Flyer and always yell out in excitement. Therefore on a random weekend, we decided to take him on a ducktour and a Flyer ride together because we were definitely sure he was going to enjoy it.
Reagan recognizes a long list of vehicles types but have yet to come across this one that can go on both land and water.
Reagan as usual, has this serious expression on his face as he listened attentively to the tour guide introducing the famous icons of Singapore.

When we entered the capsule, Reagan showed a little fear and clung onto Dada tightly.
But it didn't take long for him to warm up. Initially we thought he has a fear of heights and will not even attempt to look down, but we were wrong. Reagan LOVES the magnificent view down from the capsule!
He was so excited to show us everything he sees from the top! The highway, the cars, the sea, the ship...etc
There was a few moment when he just leaned against the glass and just stared quietly, mesmerized by the breath-taking view below.
Or else he would run around inside of the capsule, laughing hysterically in joy.. His response was way above our expectations. We never knew he enjoys the Flyer ride so much !
I think Reagan has a pretty good photographic memory too. Later in the evening when I was printing a new set of flashcards on the Singapore Icons he saw today, he was still able to recognise them and even remembers the name, such as the MBS, the Merlion ,the Esplanade , The Fullerton Hotel ,and of course his favorite of all, the Singapore Flyer.

Sept review

This month has past by like a quick breeze. We have to bring the kids on a few short trips this end of the year, therefore I've temporary stopped his enrichment classes for now.

Some of the new activities that I've been doing together with my 2 years old these couple of weeks...

-Mandala
I've printed out my own mandalas and practice with him at home.
Not bad for his first try :)
 -Puzzles
Reagan is showing more interest working on puzzles, especially after HappyTrain made them practice on the 12pcs ones. He is able to focus and complete 4-8 pcs puzzles with my guidance.
- Poker/ IQ/ Spelling game
I began to use poker cards to teach counting and sorting, still thinking of more new ideas on how to use the cards. I bought a sequence cards game which was a little too easy for his age, so we only played once and then chucked it aside. The spelling game was another good buy of mine (only 5 bucks!) and Reagan simply likes to do this activity with me. It comes with many letters chips and pictures cards to be spelt. First I ask him for the name of the picture, then I spelt the word for him. After that he will pick up the letters to make the word and spell it back to me again. I'm not sure whether how many spelling words he can really absorb, but it's definitely a very good input and most importantly, he's enjoying this game very much.

-Phonics story book
I've bought a couple more phonics story books for him and this time I'm moving on to the letters blendings.

 Reagan's new interests this month

-Loves to ride on the bus and taxi so much that everyday without fail, he'll be pleading me to take him out to ride the bus AND taxi...

- He is obsessed with railway trains, trucks and bus now and able to recognise the type of heavy-duty vehicle on the road. There was a couple of times when he surprised us by pointing and yelling out "cement-mixer" and "excavator"  when we passed by a construction site. My helper explained that Reagan has a book on trucks and he has memorised all the types of vehicles in that book! (I don't even remember buying him that book on trucks!)

- His daddy bought him a wooden train set recently and he fell in love with trains! I took this chance to introduce him Thomas the Train and Chugginton ....and yes he is now a big fan of them and also turning into a train set collector himself! Now I know what theme he can choose for his next birthday !

A random trip to Sea Aquarium

We planned to shop around Vivocity but decided to make a fast visit to the Sea Aquarium since we were very near Sentosa.

This was the 3rd time we brought Reagan here .... and he is still afraid of the same camel. My mom was trying to keep him from struggling to escape.

His fearful expression is quite hillarious haha!

Since Reagan is older now, he is much more responsive and shows more excitement during this visit. He can recognise some of the sea creatures , such as the sharks, seahorses, stingray, starfish and the dolphins ,and he enjoyed greeting "hello" and waving "byebye" to each and every of them.

Reagan surprised us when he suddenly pointed to the word "continent" on one of the description board and pronounced the word correctly, loud and clear. He knows how to read (using phonics to break up the words) but I'm sure my 2 years old doesn't understand what "continent" mean.
Anyway this got my mom really excited and she tried to make Reagan read out a few random words/sentences as we explored the place.

Guess which is his favourite sea creature....the JELLYFISH!
Even after we left the Sea Aquarium, he couldn't stop talking about the jellyfish we saw earlier, haha!
